Collection

One of the basic tasks of the Heppenheim museum is the collection and preservation of evidence of the cultural, and economic history as well as the historical everyday life in the city of Heppenheim. The museum collection forms an important basis for exhibition and publication projects. The museum magazine is both a depot and a service facility for scientists, teachers, students, and history associations.

The collection activity has the following priorities:
  • Documents, i.e. printed and handwritten testimonials on Heppenheim's history from the 18th century to the present.
  • Photos and postcards that document the historic cityscape and the work life and everyday life in Heppenheim.
  • Items of everyday use that have had a lasting impact on the lives of the people in Heppenheim as well as products from local trade and commerce.
